Ok. My first gripe about this game… and it’s not even about the game: what is it about the file format that prevents the .pdf from opening on mobile devices? I’ve got 3 .pdf readers on my smartphone (android) and they all give me the same error “file could not be opened because it is not a valid .pdf.” This error does not display with any other .pdf I try to access on the device in question.
Any ideas what might be causing this issue?
Huh. Weird. I have it up on my Samsung, and I even made the “low impact” version to make sure it fit in the size limits of smartphones. 🙁 Sorry man. I’ll see what I can do, but that level of pdf publishing might be beyond me (I used the InDesign suggested options and such, not savvy enough to go fiddling around with options)
Works fine on my nexus 5x as well as my ancient iPad.
Try storing it in google drive and use the built in PDF reader there.
I read it on Goodreader on my iPhone all the time. I think there’s another problem afoot here!
Hmmm…
Device is Samsung Galaxy S6. Apps are Adobe Reader, Drive pdf viewer, google pdf viewer, and one drive viewer.
Since it seems to be only my device, I’ll look into it a little more. I will say that it’s Super weird that it’s just my phone and just this file. 😐
I’ll see what i can do from home then.
MuPDF on Android, works a treat
Scott Maclure No dice. Error “cannot open file.” Same issue as every other pdf reader on this phone. Not sure what’s causing the issue yet. But it doesn’t appear to be reader specific. Since i can open other pdf’s it’s not file type specific either. It seems to just be, specifically, the pdf of UW on this phone.
That bothers me more than it should.
Colin Matter I downloaded a new copy from DTRPG (low impact PDF version) and I can open it on my Android using MuPDF. Try re-downloading the files? Do ANY PDF files work on your phone?
I have had trouble opening pdfs on mobile that I download straight from dtrpg in the past.
I have downloaded them on my laptop, then put them on a google drive, then opened them on my phone as an awkward fix.
Try downloading to your desktop and open it there. If that works then do a save-as, rename it and transfer to the phone.
Chris Wolf That did work. Now there is no problem! Thanks everyone for your help and advice!
Ooh, so it’s a direct DTRPG-to-Phone issue. Good to know! I chucked mine into my Dropbox from my desktop.
Note that I directly downloaded to my phone (Nexus 6P + Chrome), and opened it just fine.
