Looking through the Tech Playbook Areas of Expertise, Some say you have and some say you begin with. If you take an advance gaining a new area of expertise that says you begin with do you not get that with the advance or do you gain the full benefit whether you take it a character creation or as an advance?

Hm… interesting catch there. Personally, I would just give it to them on advance. Seems weird to give them two free drones with Mechanic, but not the cyberware or custom weapon that come with Splicer or Gunsmith.
Go with the fiction. If it’s fictionally appropriate that they just get the stuff, then they have it. If the fiction demands that they find that stuff, do that.
