I’ve just started watching Eric Vulgaris’s twitch stream of The Sprawl from last night and live tweeting.

  1. I love that he is asking way more world building questions than are referenced in the sprawl to build their group, and the city than are in the material.  Its a really cool world building exercise.

  2. Yeah, we definitely took longer than usual to get the job (a pet peeve of mine, usually) but it was a fun sequence, so I’m not complaining. 🙂

In ‘normal’ Sprawl play, I’d expect about 5 or 10 minutes for that bit.

  3. Creating a character is really fast and easy in The Sprawl. We took extra time because our premise was a bit unusual and we wanted to get on the same page.

  4. The way the character relationships evolved over the world-building section was interesting. I Loved xClash as the reporter and how Hollis filters her feeds like Colin Laney finding nodal points in Idoru. I had to leave after 2 hours into the stream and need to watch the rest, but was waiting for the big heist like action to start taking place. There was a definitive vibe established for their sprawl which I liked. I was not a huge fan of all the MMA Coke-Fashion stuff but it definitely felt corporate. It reminded me a lot of all the NBN stuff from Android: Netrunner. I need to Finnish watching before I pass too much judgement. I was just excited for the action a little too much I think. Which is my fault for having pre-established expectations. It definitely felt similar to my first session trying to figure out the flow of the game. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon. Also, John Harper My brother loves you and Adam!

  5. I’ve definitely run sessions like this where a large amount of the players’ fun was riffing on the awesome setting and characters.

I’m guessing you had to stop watching just before the Legwork started, cortex jackal? The Action Phase is the last hour of the episode. It’s pretty badass

  6. Just watched the first hour and a half, and it’s been a lot of fun so far. I love Eric’s excitement when someone else shares a really cool bit of worldbuilding. I also liked that they took the time to bring things alive before they got started, made sure they were all tied together and tied to the world.
