We had an absolutely amazing season finale session on Friday. I am going to write a full report this week (when I can squeeze it in), but know this:
The climactic end scene in a “court” of the Fae brought all the major threads to a head, in the most amazing way.
The moves really, really work for social conflict and drama. There was a lot of trust in the system and the group to bring up the story threads that they wanted to resolve. And it worked!
We started the night with a conversation about what had happened before and what was ‘looming’ over them. This really helped focus us and made the nights play tight and seem “well scripted”…but of course, it wasn’t.
The group had all played some kind of pbta game, except one person, and this seemed like the most perfect session I have ever run.
One caveat/comment: we were having a slight issue with each session opening up new treads and introducing new characters and problems. I had read/heard about this with US elsewhere and we called it out in this session. That really made a difference in pushing what we established to be connected, either organically or by design. Regardless it worked. If you see this happening, call it out and talk about it, then focus your results on pushing the elements against each other instead of inventing new ones!
That’s all. More later!
