During character creation, when you go around the table choosing debts, does each player choose only one option from the list, or do you continue going in rounds until all three options are used?

you use up all options
At our table, we usually go around. Do one for each person, then come back around. Do the same thing for Hx or strings or any sort of history mechanic.
You don’t have to use all of them but you should unless they really can’t be fit into your ideas for your history.
Hmm, well since we were unclear on the mechanic, I decided to only chose one.
The story hasn’t progressed far after character creation, so I might be able to amend it.
However I was under the impression that, in a 4-player group, using all options would create an improbable mess of debts and connections. A situation where everybody owed something to everybody.
Has anybody had a problem like that? Or am I fretting over nothing?
Michał Rusinowski I would guess that your improbable mess of debt and connections is the point of doing it, rather than a problem
Yeah. Feature, not a bug… But if it doesn’t make sense, toss in an NPC to owe or owe you.
Think of the basic D&D party, just formed. Then, check them again at level 5.
How many times has the cleric healed the party for free?
How many traps spotted, life saved?
The US PCs work that way, in a modern urban context. They are people who like to work together, and go to each other to ask for assistance
Guess I’ll give it a try next session. Thanks for the input everyone 🙂
