I could use some help at some point.

I could use some help at some point… My game shop is interested in running a game of this. I picked up a copy of the game, but this is just really different than what I am used to running. I have read the rules, listened to podcasts, and watched youtubes. I’m having problems seeing how the different components fit together.

Are there any GMs in the Boston/Providence area, I’m happy to buy beer at the pub if you can walk me through the flow of the game. Or anyone have time to meet on google hangouts or roll20 for 30-60, minutes?

  1. I own a copy, of course, but have not played the game. I think I have enough Bully Pulpit game experience to be half useful but Angel could likely do just as well without any help.

Angel looks to be somewhere down in Rhode Island, southern MA neighborhood. I am in Lexington MA.

  2. Angel, depending on your timezone, I’d be willing to do a Hangout chat tomorrow if you’re interested. I’ve run several one-shots of Night Witches. I’m at UTC+2.

  3. Thank you all! Kai S. if Malkavian doesn’t mind walking a Gangrel through it 😉

So you are 11:50pm right now I’m UTC-4. Can you do tomorrow in 26 hours? that is about 3:00pm your local time?

  4. Steve Segedy thank you. Actually that does help. I’m stuck in RPG systems from 20 years ago, so if I don’t see a character sheet I feel out of my element. I’m seeing here something is that is starting to put things together for me.

Christopher Corbett Lexington is a lovely town, but it’s just inconvenient enough that its going to be really tough (Besides is it a dry town? I don’t know of any really great Irish pubs there?!)

  5. Super Super thanks to Kai S. -Sorry Kai I’m outing you as a great human being!

What I figured here is that the root of the issue was that I was not familiar with how Apocalypse World engine works. I think I have been avoiding it, because there are just so many rule sets that my brain can hold! Each component made sense, but I was having a hard time seeing how it all fit together “how to run a session, or get players to do things!”

I had read the book 3 times and could recite rules, and I had consumed podcasts/youtubes, -so I could definitely be a good player that helps build/drive the story -but as a GM I was lost as to how kick it off.

Again thank you Kai you sir rock!

  6. Angel Penshar Glad I could be of assistance and it was a lot of fun chatting with you. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact me – or if you just want to chat again. And I’d be happy to hear how your Night Witches game went. 🙂
