Here’s what I’ve got for the countdown clock cards I was talking abut earlier. Not fancy, but functional.

The plan is for this to be printed on a 3.5″ x 2″ business card. I haven’t decided if I want to just leave the back blank, or have spaces for a list of what happens when the clock hits a particular time.

  1. Aaron Griffin Blades in the Dark uses those middle 4- and 6-segment clocks too, so it’s nice having all four (though I don’t know any single game that uses all four, let alone all five).

  2. James Etheridge you could probably fiddle with the lines to make the right hand clock functional for all three. Maybe bold the horizontal and vertical, make the lower left to upper right slash a dotted line? I’m not a UX guy, so I’m just making shit up at this point.

  3. Well sure; all you really need is the second clock, since it’s the base for the following two. Drawing in the extra divisions is easy enough, since you’ll be marking off segments anyway.

  4. Thanks for the input, all! I’m not a UX or graphic designer (obviously), I just wanted to build something for my own use. I put the additional clocks on there for a couple of reasons. First, Blades in the Dark uses them, and I totally could have just made a 4-segment clock and added lines as needed. But, then I realized that there may be times when I want a 10 or 12 segment clock. Then I can just use two of the ones on there. Or if I want to do linked clocks (Blades does that), I can do those on a single card.

After thinking about it, I’m agreeing with Meguey Baker and just leaving the back blank.

  5. Oh, and I totally forgot to make this explicit, but feel free to use this if you want! Also, if you want the .psd file so you can modify it for your own nefarious purposes, hit me up. I’ll throw it on Dropbox so I can link to it easily when I get home from work.

  6. I like that you are leaving the back blank. It just adds to the versatility. I’ll probably put the MC moves on the back for whatever game I’m playing.
