Questions about the hunter move ENHANCE

-does edge replace mind for all research?

-do you need [intel] first to examine evidence?

-can you gain [intel] multiple times by examining evidence?

Just need some opinions/clarification

  1. – no, the trigger of the move is that you are examining gathered evidence. Research done via dossiers/databases/etc would still roll mind

    – no, but you do need to have gathered evidence, which might involve making a roll, but might not

    – only if it’s different evidence. Like all moves in PbtA you shouldn’t let a move trigger multiple times unless the situation has changed and there’s a good reason it should trigger again.

  2. [Intel] (like [gear]) is just a currency for use in-game, allowing characters to apply some advantage from their previous research, but without deciding in advance what it is – a +1 bonus you can expend if you can find some plausible explanation for doing so.

It essentially represents the idea that while doing research, you stumbled upon things that might not answer an immediate question, but could prove useful in future – e.g. you’re looking for a fast exit, and just happen to know that one of the doors doesn’t always lock properly (justifying +1 to a roll made to escape pursuit).

It doesn’t have any other mechanical effect unless some move happens to say otherwise. And I would definitely say that you can’t Enhance the same evidence twice to get additional intel..
