So, I still haven’t had a chance to get involved with a WWWRPG game yet, so I’m going to live vicariously a little through those of you here who have.

What sort of characters have you made for this game? I would love to hear about them. I don’t need their full character sheets or anything, but I’d love to hear a little about who they are and what they look like, what their gimmicks and in-ring style are like, what their entrance music is, stuff like that. I don’t plan on using any of this info for anything, but it’d be fun to imagine a fictional wrestling fed populated by all these new characters that people have been having such fun with. Anyone game for sharing?

I’ll start — when Nathan Paoletta ran a demo of the game, I created “Brimstone”, a young up-and-coming wrestler with a mixture of high-flying and technical skills, sort of a cross between The Hurricane and T.J. Perkins. His gimmick was that he was a gamer geek, who would name his moves things like “DPS” or “Omnislash”, the latter of which was a finisher that included a flurry of high-speed kicks that ended with a double-palm strike to the chest for the knockout blow.

He would pepper nerd culture into his promos, like referring to “grabbing aggro” on someone or “tanking the boss”. He’d wear green and black, with a sort of eldritch flame motif, but also wear a bit of cosplay gear to the ring for spice — but if he went heel, he’d drop the happy gamer approach and go for more of someone who actually thought he was a monster, kind of Finn Balor’s Demon but with the brakes removed and a helpful dollop of obvious delusion.

Anyone else care to take a turn?

  1. I’ve just finished playing Gauntlet League Wrestling when I played an indie darling “Revolutionary” Randy Burns. Great high energy technical wrestler (CM Punkesque) with an eye for a good feud. His theme was American revolutionary including flags, drums, pipes when playing US venues and French revolutionary in Montreal, flags, drums, tricorn hat. Entrance music was Children of the Revolution played live by tribute band TooRex. Blonde hair, White pants with blue stars on.

  2. I made a jobber in a chicken costume that did significantly better (including gaining an audience) against the person who beat the shit out of me lol

  3. Clutch: High-flyer from Chicago. Finisher was the Chiraq Welcome Wagon: a diving double-foot stomp. Wore a hockey mask. His tag-team partner, Headshot!, got legit injured by an in-ring botch. With his partner in hospital, Clutch has got both a worked and real grudge against the wrestler who put him there.

  4. My first one was Joey Crak, the golden boy seen in Nathan’s youtube series.

Then there was Bell “The Beast” Bardot A shoot fighter, former MMA fighter turned wrestler than used to dominate most people she stepped in the ring with.

One of my favorites was in Blair Hoplight’s DexCon longcon where I played the Manager Lady Diamond, a total heel manipulative sort who managed The Diamond Age: Jean Paul DeBeers (The Internet champion), Cecil Cartier (The Heavyweight Champion), and Zales. She even made the Giant of the federation bow down to her will, up until Dr. Hypno helped break the giant free from ehr control, and he crushed and broke her.

Only for her to return as the Black Diamond (An Iconoclast) after emerging from a diamond chrysalis that slowly grew darker until it was emanating with EVIL.

Multiple times she almost caused old school heel heat in mythic moments. Once where she made the Giant kneel and Kiss her sceptre when she was Lady Diamond, the crowd went insane and tried to rush the ring to get at her.

In the epic finale that tok place in Moldova, for her match against Dr. Hypno, she appeared dressed as a Romanian general, and the crowd went insane once more. Luckily Dr. Hypno’s mind games were able to shatter the Evil Black Diamond that was possessing Suzanne Walters, the woman beneath the mask, and she ended up being arrested for all her crimes in wrestling, some of which included diamond smuggling, by her ex-fiance Special Agent Cooper.

  5. All the games I have been have been with Joe Zantek as the GM at Dreamation and Dexcon. My first character was Gordy “The Goon” Clarke, Three time Stanley-Cup Champion and master of Hockedo, the great Canadian martial art. He started off every promo “As a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, I know a little about __________“.. He was so much fun as a character and I always loved his super annoying promos.

My next character was and Indy Darling….I actually forget his name, but he had several interesting RP hooks….he was sponsored by GoPro and wore a helmet in the ring with a camera on it and streamed first person youtube matches in real time. He also was totally starstruck and he often stopped to look at the the crowds and the people he wrestled completely out of character, simply in awe of the situation…the back never got his entrance music right….

Lastly there is Monsignor Malllah, a Face priest from Vatican City. He has been a challenge to play as a face, esp since I apparently burned a heel as a witch just before her wedding, but it is getting there.

Anyway, thanks to Joe Zantek for running games so I can play in. He is a great GM for this game.
