  1. Most people never see the actual park. Its so expensive only really rich people get to touch the rides and attractions.

You buy a ticket to Disneyland, you sit in a black box and jack into a virtual guest port, and experience a professional “guest’s” view of the park.

Now, the messed up part is, that professional guest has done this so many times, zipping around roller coasters or having their heart rate spike when they see a jump scare on the Pirates ride doesn’t work any more. So they have metabolic enhancers installed to make them feel the thrills and chills the whole time.

Those poor bastards can’t maintain for more than five years or so before their body is so wrecked from artificial fun, they don’t know what’s real any more. But if you last that line, it’s not too bad of a gig, just looking at the bank account.

The real catch is–the part itself is shit. Even the professional “guest’s” are being taken on an augmented reality tour of the place. Once the higher ups realized nobody needs to see the real place if they can clean it up in post, it’s a rotting death trap.

But the hotels are super nice and expensive.

  2. Adam Koebel did a great sprawl series which included Disney among it’s corps. I recommend checking it out for inspiration, don’t forget to get some input from your players too.

To me Disney is a warm and friendly visage that hides clockwork efficiency and no tolerance for unhappiness.

  3. Much like it does now, I imagine. I mean, it’ll have some new rides, and the level of tech will have gone up – maybe the people dressing as Disney characters are replaced by androids run by expert systems, the newest attractions will reflect whatever their hot media properties are, and they’ll have taken full advantage of augmented reality both on the rides, and just around the park.

But the essence of it won’t have changed much, because it already exemplifies much of the essence of cyberpunk… a bright, colourful facade on top of a corporate machine, fakery of the highest order. It’s a fun place to visit – especially as a kid – but it’s like the least-real place on earth.
