  1. “Momentarily Inhibited” is one of the secondary effects you can get for 0 harm. So, if the point of the punch is for one hunter to go off and do something stupid while the other stays at the hotel “safe and sound,” that other hunter could be momentarily inhibited long enough for the other hunter to hop in the Imp–er, the car and drive off.

Additionally, if the point is to do harm to the other hunter, 10+ does have an additional effect of “do great harm,” which would allow you to do a point of harm even if the base harm of the move, fictionally, is 0 harm.

  2. A punch can still knock you out and not do lasting harm. (Well, in fictional land, anyway.) The 0 harm just means there’s no lasting damage and no formal recovery needed.

  3. Use the Harm moves and let things snowball. Even 0-harm has effects and a 10+, one of the options is to inflict +1 harm. And at that point, “pass out” is an option” on the Harm move.

  4. Alternately, think about “what the characters are trying to achieve?” You should start from here EVERY TIME. If the answer is the classical “Brawl to show their true colors – as tough men do usually – ie. I pinch you to let you know I care for you, or to teach you an important lesson, or ’cause I’m trying to convince you to not choose a wrong path… Etc. Etc.” then you shouldn’t use the “fight” rules. Maybe you could use the “persuade” rules instead, while the narrative effects in the fiction are “you both are wrestling each other, while crying and shouting about X”.

  5. (disclaimer: as though man usually do IN OVER THE TOP FICTION, of course. I never punched my partner to let her know how much I love her 😂 – well, maybe I’m a tough guy not enough… 😆)
