I ran the Homecoming dance episode of our campaign last night (fuller recap coming soon). I thought folks here might enjoy the custom moves for dancing I came up with:

____________

When you bust a move on the dance floor, roll +Freak. On a hit, you attract the attention of anyone you want, or gain Influence over one onlooker.

On a 7–9, choose a complication:

–You attract unwanted attention also

–You take a condition due to your awkwardness

On a miss, the GM will tell you what happens.

__________

When you initiate an intimate moment at Homecoming, roll +Mundane. On a hit, the other person must reciprocate or mark a condition.

On a 7-9, they get to ask you a question you must answer honestly.

On a miss, the GM will tell you what happens.

  1. I just changed from the Bull to the Soldier, which means I used the substitute-Soldier-for-another-stat move when I rolled initiate an intimate moment. I thought it was a good idea! I was +3 Soldier and -1 Mundane. But I rolled v. badly and it blew up in my face.

(My fellow refugee from the place that made me as the Bull thought I was mind-controlled and attacking him).

  2. Our Protégé rolled Initiate an Intimate Moment twice in a row with his date. He failed both times, once rolling snake eyes. He ended up trying to dip her and dropping her on the ground. He marked Guilty and Insecure.

  3. See, this is the sort of stuff that happens in Masks that doesn’t happen in any other supers game. I was thinking you could call the first move Bust a Move, but you could also call the second move Bust a Move

  4. I love it…I’m just playtesting MonsterMash (with the intention of parodying Monster Mask a possible mashup of superteen with monsterteen and I love this move).

As in Capes they have 5 labels: Hot Cool (as Cold) Instable (as Volatile) Dark and…Mundane. Cool Kids start with Mundane+1 (cool kids can dance) Boring Boys +0 Freak and similar with -1.

When I finished the crossover I’ll pdf it here with a highlighted refer to your moves.

  5. Marcelo Paschoalin thank U! It will published for an Italian Roleplay Gazette as a ETU adventure. For Masks I write something similar for an other magazine in spare time (I work hard as private vigliante…but I’ve no superpower 🙁 )

  6. Kalu Deliko You write. You create wonderful fantasies on the mind of the readers (and players). The magic of creation is the greatest ever (I know that, as I’m a novel and RPG author).

So, enough of this. You have an amazing superpower.

  7. Kalu Deliko My material is in Portuguese. Well, not everything: I’ve just started a crowdfunding campaign for a sword & sorcery DW setting inspired by Egyptian mythology, but I don’t think it would be fair to link the campaign here since this board is focused on Masks. It’s my first book in English.

  8. Marcelo Paschoalin ok I’m Valli Gianluca on FB and I dressed like arabian pirate with my wife in turkish robe too. Add me and send link of your creations.

  9. OK listen to me… I love your suggestion Alexi Sargeant so… for NON-SUPER (but problematic Teenager):

HOT / COOL (as cold) / VOLATILE / DARK and MUNDANE:

Set Mundane as +1 for Cool Kids (cool kids can dance), 0 for Boring People and -1 for Nerd/Punk/Freaks and so on…

They are mortal so have only 4 conditions:

Afraid (-2 to Lash out / -2 to Gaze into Abyss)

Angry (-2 to Hold Steady / -2 to Run Away)

Insecure (-2 to Turn someone On / -2 to Manipulate NPC)

Confused (-2 to Shut Someone Down / -2 to Sex Move Rolls)

And the Capers too (from Capers game you can find here: https://issuu.com/kaludeliko/docs/the_capers)

    Freak / Danger / Trouble / Superior / Menace

And their condition: Afraid / Angry / Doubting / Insecure / Paranoid.

Did you feel some Crossover Love for my MONSTER MASH the Homecoming and the sequel THE HOR-MON-STER Unleashed.

Obviously with Principal Sargeant, Mrs Libresco (in latin Liber means Book) and Chef Marcelo 😛

Tomorrow Night I try it and write you soon
