  1. XP gain can be a bit slow, if you’re used to playing other Apocalypse World games. The thing to keep in mind is that the characters have parallel advancement tracks – Experience and Jaded, and that’s going to change the pace of things.

    Still, if your players are getting frustrated, it’s good to remember as an MC to make note of which players have which moves highlighted and try to put them in situations where those rolls will come up – at least until they get used to the different way of approaching things.

  2. Yep, what Anna said; TW is a bit slower. That being said, it’s your game. If you and your players want more xp, just give them more xp; no rule against it. 🙂

  3. Good comment. I think for my game, as we only have eight sessions total, I’ll tell people to mark two experience boxes each time they take experience, and tick one or two Jaded and Weary (their choice) each time.

    I think that if we don’t push along those tracks fast, we won’t see those character changes in play. It also means I won’t feel too guilty when doing fewer missions on each stage of the war!
