Do we have an exit plan for when G+ will close? I’d at least love a repository of all the Skins, some sort of index, because without this community it’d be really hard to find those, and an index would greatly help here, too.

I do not have plans myself. If G+ provide community tools to download data then I’ll be happy to share those with any members interested in creating a new resource.
I’m pretty sure I saw that there would be a “download your group” option in one of the many emails. Did you see it?
