It’s incredibly annoying but Drivethru just resolved whatever issue was going on with updating files. When we updated the other day and sent out the email the files still said 2P and 2P ref sheets for the second printing stuff. This is wrong, it should just say “First Printing” and “Second Printing.” If you don’t have the files that say this, you’ve got antiquated files. It looks like it was resolved sometime between 1230 and a half hour ago or so when I checked and downloaded the files myself to make sure.

I also got a new piece of art for Cascade, check it out:

So, after uploading the new files like, 3 times?

So, after uploading the new files like, 3 times? I just deleted them all and re-uploaded them. Give it a few minutes for DrivethruRPG to get the files on their server and then give it another go. The last time the PDF was like cut in half? Whaaat?

The interface is stupid for updating notes too, I was waiting for the files to upload while I wrote my note and the gateway timed out and it looks like it sent out the unedited version of the note to everyone before I could look it over. Jeez.

You’ll know the files are updated easily by just looking at the first full page illo of the core text, if the picture has more than a head only, it’s updated.

Reference sheets, if there are boxes around the states to indicate which are paired and terms are in caps, you’re fine.

Just so you know everyone: the international store is completely sold out of The Veil after the Cascade Kickstarter…

Just so you know everyone: the international store is completely sold out of The Veil after the Cascade Kickstarter (wow!). That just leaves those copies available at IPR. I’m not sure if they’re tracking the numbers on hand very well, I think they might look at the stock monthly, but that’s just a guess. I’ve checked how many they say they have every few weeks and sometimes the number doesn’t change at all despite having been messaged by people who bought copies….sooo who knows!

We will for sure need a second print run, which is amazing! So, I scanned the InDesign file of what should have been used for the first printing and was not, due to the printer’s error. Found 1 typo from that. And we just updated The Veil DrivethruRPG with the second print run files, which are pretty refined. There are move clarifications, terms that are capitalized, one less typo, etc.

I also was notified the original PDF bookmarks weren’t working anymore so manually fixed those. So, if you want to look at the 2nd print run PDF (and Ref sheets to match), you can download them now. And, if you somehow have a PDF without working bookmarks, you can also re-download the file with fixed bookmarks.

Thanks a lot everyone!

Solace, an adventure starter for The Veil, is in Codex Neon right now! It’s in great company too, a bunch of 200 Word RPG winners and an original game. Loads of stuff in this one!

Codex – Neon is now available in the Gauntlet’s Patreon feed! Here is an overview of what you’ll find inside…

Tonight Only! Sound Check Presents…

Tonight Only! is a competitive LARP written by Jonathan Lavallee about a Battle of the Bands in the 1980s. Form your bands, survive a press conference, put on your show, and then vote to see who gets their video produced for MTV. What I really love about this game is the clever way in which the music performance portion is handled. It’s entirely descriptive, but you still have to present a good show if you want to win. The piece also features a really cool, Jem and the Holograms-inspired piece of art by Claudia Cangini (pictured below).

Solace

Solace is an adventure starter by Fraser Simons for his game The Veil. It’s a little different from your typical starter in the sense that it is very literary. Fraser has a deep knowledge and affection for cyberpunk fiction, and this piece reflects that in a huge way. It’s not just a set of custom moves and plot hooks, but also a genuinely interesting bit of prose. The piece features two slick illustrations by Alex Prinz.

Mechanical Oryx

This piece by Grant Howitt was one of the 200 Word RPG Challenge winners, about a robotic god-deer. It features exquisite illustrations by Vandel J. Arden, including a set of heads, bodies, and legs for making your own mechanical oryx, paper doll-style (some of which are pictured below)!

Route Clearance

This piece by Andy Millar was another winner from the 200 Word RPG Challenge (and my personal favorite from this year’s contest). It uses a card layout mechanic to tell the story of soldiers clearing IEDs between Kabul to Kandahar. It features a really poignant illustration by Per Folmer.

Memories

This is another winner from the 200 Word RPG Challenge. Memories was written by Santiago Eximeno and is about bittersweet stories in a nursing home. It features a charming illustration by Cédric Plante (pictured below).

Four Dozen Neon Lit Business Establishments

The crowdsourcing response was so great on this miscellany, we decided to supersize it (although we did not charge you an extra 79 cents). Get your inspiration with these neon-lit joints, any one of which would be a fantastic location in your game, or even the basis of a whole story.

The layout on Codex – Neon was done by Oli Jeffery. Editing duties were handled by myself and David LaFreniere. The cover art is by Vandel J. Arden.
