So since the Bull starts out with Danger +2, what happens when they take the +2 Danger advancement? Do they have to rearrange their labels first or what?

So digging the “risky” playbooks.

So digging the “risky” playbooks. Love the Nova, adore the Doomed. I think that it would be a little bit more thematic if the “Cure your Doom” Advancement were “Get a fiction chance to face and overcome your Doom”, that way it takes more than just marking 30 potential.

A thought occurs to me, Magpie Games . Please read this whole thing knowing that I’m a fan of your work, and love that you want all people to be represented. In the Look section, perhaps you could just leave the top two fields (the ones with gender and ethnicity) blank. This would let people write in what they want.

I first had this thought when I saw the Indigenous label and asked Indigenous to where? My wife is First Nations/Native Alaskan, which is much different than the Chippewa on my father’s side and unknown tribe near Colorado from which my great-grandfather was kidnapped as a child. Indegenous could refer to the Anangu and other groups of Australia or any number of peoples.

My wife’s cousins are Persian, which is not the same as Arab, yet both are considered Middle Eastern. I could go on with each listed group, but I think the point is clear.

If you truly want to represent everyone, maybe a couple blank spaces could allow more self expression? TYVM.

So the wife and I went to see Jurassic World today. Throughout the movie I kept seeing it as a game of DW/WiP (also Cortex+, but that’s not relevant here).

When the kids try to attack the raptor with the taser and it only knocks it back temporarily I saw that as rolling 7-9 to avoid danger. I saw a lot of the “success with a price or drawback” at various moments.

At the end when Claire whips out the flair to summon Rexie, I was in awe. I was thinking that she was performing a Move that was a lot like burning a bond, but not quite. They unleashed the previously most-feared dinosaur. Claire held the flare and stood like a priestess providing an offering. At the end of the adventure Rexie took her price as she stood as the uncontested ruler of the island.

What existing move would best represent that scenario? Where you openly beg the aid of your bitterest foe to defeat a stronger enemy, and at the cost of giving in to your rival’s demands.

So I’ve been working on an RPG system for a while, which I’ve been calling the Wanderer System. It’s got a few good ideas, including using 2D6 of different colors to activate the enemy’s attacks off of how well you roll (you only ever make one roll per round), a series of what I was calling Burdens, which can be both positive and negative, and allow you to sacrifice something good in your life to stay in the game, as well as very easy-to-generate monsters.

Anyway, out comes WiP and I realize that the street-level supers setting (among many other settings) I was working on is now useless. The Dungeon World system does a lot of what I was hoping to do in the Wanderer System, with Bonds working similar to burdens.

This has made me realize that I should probably just keep the best ideas I had for my system and use them to create a DW/Fate hybrid/hack. Anyway, the moral of the story is that WiP is a fantastic system.
