Revising The Ongoing Games Matchmaking Thread

The same post has been up for over a year, so I’m thinking of unpinning it and creating a new one so that it’s a little more manageable (as I’m sure there’s some folks from over a year ago who would appreciate not getting pinged by new comments on it, among other reasons).

Before I do that, any feedback on the thread to improve it’s utility? I mean, it’s just meant to be a central place to casually try and connect people to play, but if there’s anything I can do to make it better at doing that, post your ideas in this thread and let’s see what happens.

The Indie RPG Awards are an annual public-vote award that goes all the way back to 2002. This time around, World Wide Wrestling shares the Indie Game of the Year 2015 award with Jason Morningstar’s Night Witches (and that is good company to be in, indeed).

Perhaps more personally fulfilling to me is that it also won the Best Support 2015 sub-award, which is rad. “Support” is a nebulous thing to define in RPG circles, but I choose to see it as being recognized for the vibrant and positive community that has grown up around the game, rooted both in this community and the overlapping circles of people playing, recording, sharing and talking about it over the last year. So thank you all for that!

(Check out all the awards for a snapshot of the current state of independent game publishing – one cool thing about this award is that it’s always a diverse set of entries and there’s always something new and surprising in the lineup.)

I’m definitely not watching live, but I’m gonna try pretty hard to keep up with the G1 this year.

Night 1 report: Holy shit, the headlining Okada/Marufuji (who’s on loan from NOAH) match is dope as hell, at least from the perspective of someone (like me) who hasn’t seen Marufuji before. If you watch one match from this show, make it this one. I also really enjoyed the Tanahashi/SANADA match.

I’ll be posting an official Kickstarter update over the weekend, but things are getting very close for WWW:II.

I’ll be posting an official Kickstarter update over the weekend, but things are getting very close for WWW:II. Gregor’s final essay text is the last piece of writing I’m waiting on. All the art is done. The initial layout is almost done. The cards are done (and I’m awaiting a second proof deck to confirm that they’re ready to order en masse). The shirts are done and in hand. Upper level rewards: the jackets are in process at LVAC, I need to kick off the mask-making process with Closet Champion, and I need to design and order Joe Zantek’s belt.

Unless something very unexpected comes up (which is always a possibility!) I should be able to at least order the first proof of the book by the end of the month.

If you want some inspiration for International Incident-related stuff, check out the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, btw. The way they’re presenting it as very sport-based and really focusing on the international backgrounds of the competitors is totally in tune with the tone of the supplement.
