I have an idea where the PC group will have an exp track of its own, and players can sacrifice taking an exp and give it to the group instead. Then there would be some group moves. What those group moves would be, besides reputation, I am not sure yet.  My questions are… what do you think of this idea, is work developing? Has anyone already done anything like this?

So I am working on a *World hack for Star Wars.

So I am working on a *World hack for Star Wars. Yes I know there are at least 4 of them already out there, but I only like bits and pieces of each one, and then I want to do some things that are in other hacks but not in any of the existing Star Wars hacks (see Corruption in Urban Shadows, and Heritage moves in Dark Heart.) So after some struggling to edit existing, nice looking Playbooks… I decided to just make my own. I spent 3 hours working on one playbook, trying to get it just right. Today I find out that it didn’t saved properly. Well poop. So I guess my second go at making them will go better, and faster, at least there is that.

The group wanted to play as part of the scoundrels of the Star Wars universe. One of them wants to set up protection rackets and then have his crew collect for him each week. Would you consider that best done as a gig, or something else?

SEDUCE OR MANIPULATE

SEDUCE OR MANIPULATE

SEDUCE OR MANIPULATE

When you try to seduce or manipulate someone, tell them

what you want and roll+hot. For NPCs: on a hit, they ask you

to promise something first, and do it if you promise. On a 10+,

whether you keep your promise is up to you, later. On a 7–9,

they need some concrete assurance right now. For PCs: on a 10+,

both. On a 7–9, choose 1:

• if they do it, they mark experience

• if they refuse, it’s acting under fire

What they do then is up to them.

Can someone break this down a little for me? The For NPCs and the For PC’s is messing me up. I can’t tell in this who is the manipulated, and who is the manipulator. Is “For NPCs” when the NPC tries to get a PC to agree to something, or when a PC tries to get an NPC to do something?

So I am pretty new with the *World engine. I have only played a few hours of DW and now I am boning up on how AW works so that I can run a Star Wars hack for my friends.

The one thing that has me wondering however is that the MC doesn’t roll, and acts against the characters when they roll poorly. So if, when confronted with the threat, what if they do not choose to do anything?  In most systems I would roll for an attack, or whatever it is that the threat is threatening them with, but here if they don’t make a move then I don’t have anything to apply against them do I?

Or, is choosing to do nothing still a choice and I can still make soft moves (or hard moves) against them?
