I am new-ish to running PbtA games and am having a struggle with the game I am currently running for my family.   There are no moves for observing/examining a non-magical location or object.   Is the point to always have the player observe something arcane or ancient?  Do I just give them the info or ask them about it, if the place is not arcane/ancient ?   The players keep asking me about things that do not fit that move and I am at a loss sometimes.

Any help for a newer GM?

I will be starting up my first game of Epyllion soon.   What do people use to draw on the map of Dragonia online?   Is there a preferred easy to setup whiteboard (or something like that) tool out that that you would recommend?

My friends and I have had Tuesday as game nights for a few years, but I have never run a game. Ever. On any system.

After finding out about Epyllion, I got really excited. All the guys were interested in playing (I am the only female player), but seem a little wary about some of the world building aspects.

We’ve recently played Mage with a new DM and they have a style that makes me think I can do this.

I want my drakes to have the best experience possible.

Any advice to an older newbie that loves dragons?

I’ve read the book and host a game session, however there’s still something unclear to me, which is the Darkness part.

1. Does Darkness appear as a real entity like a shady figure or dark beasts? Or is it just an abstract power of corruption, existing inside every dragons? Or what else could it be?

2. The Seer’s move “Touch the Darkness” states that it triggers when the Seer consumes a piece of Darkness. What kind of actions should trigger this move? Is there an example?

I am starting a game tonight. I am mixing some of my older D&D and Vampire players with some new players. It is going to be extremely interesting to see how each one approaches the game and especially for the old players.

I will keep you posted about how it goes.

So really only had one thing come with sharing the book among friends and that was use of pronouns.

So really only had one thing come with sharing the book among friends and that was use of pronouns. It wasn’t that big of deal but it was more along of lines of why couldn’t they use they or them or their vs needing to make one up. It brought up a good discussion in the end about well dragons would make their own up, but also lead to comments about all the stuff in society. So if nothing else you books as raised a good discussion on reactions of things in society.

Hello fellow drakes

Hello fellow drakes

Hello fellow drakes,

I have a question. I have looked in the book about rules for damage and dying.

I noticed that damage makes the player check the shadow track and once all 4 are marked, then the drake turns into dris shadowself.

I will start playing this game with a group of mature players, and definitively, death of the character can be the worst thing that can happen it can also be extremely interesting to see how it turns out in the fiction, especially if the character is returned through moon magic.

In any case, I have been looking into the rules and I didn’t find anything about dying or damage outside of the shadow track. Can you guys point me in the right direction for these rules?

This is my first time with an Apocalypse World rules game, so I am not sure if I am missing the point on something.

Thanks.

I am sure this is already somewhere and I haven’t looked in the right place, but are there printable character…
