Hey all!

Hey all!

Hey all! I just found out about MotW and this community within the past couple weeks (while listening to The Adventure Zone) and I loved it so much that I was immediately inspired to start writing a story.

I mainly just wanted to post in order to say hey and ask a few simple questions and get involved in the community.

I’ve been trying to find extra resources for the game but can’t find much. Things like new hunter types, collections of monsters that people have made, etc. Does anyone know of some resources like that? I did already find the More Weirdness pdf which is AWESOME!

I immediately started writing up this concept for the game and I want to know what you all might think…

It’s October, 1987. Four guys who met at their small town community college have decided to go on a road trip together. When their van, named Lord Humongous by it’s driver “Tuba”, starts to show signs of engine trouble, they have to limp slowly to the nearest town and get it to a mechanic. That night, the mechanic inexplicably vanishes right in front of his family. Now the boys are stranded in this tiny town of 1100 people in the backwoods of [haven’t decided on which state] and realize the only way out of the town is to solve this mystery. Little do they know that one of them is hiding a dark secret about a bargain he made with a mysterious man at a county crossroads. Nor do they know about their other traveling companion’s family history and his mission to get revenge on the beast that destroyed them.

So my plan is that after solving this mystery they’ll be contacted by a sort of mentor-type monster hunter who wants to take them under his wing. And that’s how they end up getting involved in the business of monster hunting.

Hi – new keeper here!

Hi – new keeper here! Can someone please clarify for me the deal with monster weaknesses? What happens if hunters do enough harm to the monster to reach it’s harm capacity without using the weakness?

I’m creating a fungus monster that exists primarily underground, like most actual fungi. The weakness is that entire fungus needs to be completely destroyed (e.g. by fire, electric shock etc.). But I’m worried that the hunters will just try to hack away at mushrooms until they reach it’s harm capacity. What are the mechanics/strategies for dealing with this?

Michael Sands I JUST found the More Weirdness pdf! I haven’t included it in my game yet, But I LOVE the concept. the player of The Flake in my campaign kept asking about the Use Magic Move…this makes more sense for him. Also, will these rules be included in the supplement you’re working on?

so because of some football match tonight, some of our players wont make the game tonight, so i am running a one…

so because of some football match tonight, some of our players wont make the game tonight, so i am running a one shot of monster of the week, my first time running it 😀

I’ve run a couple of sessions for my RPG group of the last couple of months.

I’ve run a couple of sessions for my RPG group of the last couple of months. Everyone says they’re enjoying themselves but they have one criticism, there’s no story arc. Killing a different monster every week doesn’t really lead to an over arching plot.

I was wondering if/how anyone else incorporated a story arc into their games of MOTW.

I signed up to be Keeper for MotW at a Local Gaming Convention, running both mysteries from the rule book. I am thinking of reducing the player’s Luck so they feel the danger of using it. Also, having the players go ahead and select from any of the playbooks from the rule book as character creation is pretty easy. Has Anyone else done this? By how much should Luck be reduced? Any other tips/tricks/hints for running MotW at a Con?
