Tracking harm for vehicles?

Should we bother tracking harm on a clock for vehicles, or just handle it in a more narrative fashion? Likewise, would you use the armor for the vehicle or just transfer it directly to the character? Any advice for running scenes with vehicles would be great, I have a feeling I’ll be running a car chase in my game tonight.

I have recently bought the PDF of this really nice looking game, but I have some questions, which I hope some of you can answer:

1. How do you fictionalize the stake of cred after you take a job? Why is the runner not able to buy expensive stuff or pay his contacts? Is is because of the time constraints (and his inability to liquify his assets) or is is because their contacts are nervous and want to await the outcome of the run? I see how this is a nice game mechanic, but I struggle to come up with an explanation to my potential players.

2. Matrix Moves and ICE. The compromise security move allows the hacker to activate or deactive ICE. But in the description of ICE it tells me that ICE cannot be compromised and has to be melted. Compromise security and Melt ICE have different results on a partial success or a 6- so it could provide an interesting choice to the hacker (do I risk another alert, or do I risk getting burned by the ICE).

I am eager to hear your takes on these subjects.

A couple of weekends ago I was messing around with javascript and websockets and created a web-app for managing Countdown Clocks.

Its basically two web pages that talk to each other. The MC creates his clocks in the Countdown Controller screen and the players can instantly see the results on the Big Board. I tried to keep the page lean enough that it works in a mobile environment.

Check it out here: http://tomcat8-clocks.rhcloud.com/clocks/

If there’s enough interest, I’ll clean it up and share it on GitHub.

I’m MCing a chat-based Sprawl game for a few friends on Tumblr, and one of my players drew some cool illustrations of her Hacker, Reina. Rei recently lost her eyes during a mission when she ran into black ICE and hit the Harm move with an 11. She plans to buy herself some new cybereyes with the cred she earns being a badass console jockey.

So, I just got this, and tore through the whole book in one setting. What a solid purchase. Thanks Hamish.

Iwant to play so very much! I, however, do not actually have a consistent local or online gaming group (Yet!) If you’re interested in getting an online game going, on mornings on weekdays or flexible times on weekends, let me know!

Do you mark experiance for rolling a miss in The Sprawl?

Do you mark experiance for rolling a miss in The Sprawl? I’ve noticed that as a common element to other games of the same system, but haven’t noticed it here. If it isn’t a thing I’d be interested to hear why from a design perspective.

Maybe I should have done this before we packed all the books. There are 4 more copies in there, too, somewhere…
