I asked this over KS as well, but things seem dead there. Has there been any confirmation as to what two cities have been chosen by the Marquis/Marequess Backers?

I have the final list of cities in Dark Streets as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tokyo, Miami, London, Bangalore, Victorian Era Europe, and Wild West US, + 2 chosen by Marquis/Marequess Backers.

Final question for me for now: the group rules contained on previous MC Sheets was dropped from the final MC Sheet.

Final question for me for now: the group rules contained on previous MC Sheets was dropped from the final MC Sheet. Was this due to space considerations or has the concept been dropped altogether?

I am looking to run US for the first time shortly. I have some familiarity with PbtA games, but the one thing we haven’t seen much of yet for US is the material on being the GM. So, I wanted to go over the list of things that I plan to do as GM to help get things rolling. Any thoughts, additions or modifications appreciated.

Before the session

I was going to make a list of the following things from the playbooks:

– implied NPCs like the Fae’s lord.

– implied places like the Werewolf’s territory.

– intimacy and corruption moves.

This gives me a bare bones of player related cast and locations, as well as some hot buttons to push.

During the Session

1. Use a relationship map on a blank sheet of paper showing NPCs are they are created and record their relationships, debts and factions.

2. A record of each PC’s faction scores in the open. This will help provide a quick shot view of the faction focus for the session. It will also help other players know who to go to when they want help with certain factions.

3. I plan to use a city map to record locations generated in play, both specific and general (i.e. faction strong suburbs).

4. In addition to starting moves, I was going to ask a lot of questions. I intend to direct a lot of these toward the city map and the relationship map to help establish the setting. For example, “Why do you fear entering this suburb?”, “Which piece of territory in another faction’s influence would you like to be in control of.”

5. I will also create 3-4 ideas for large scale threats (Fronts) and choose 1-2 that seem appropriate based on what playbooks are chosen and the other player generated stuff above.

In terms of the Debt questions, are these intended to be used only for other PCs, or can NPCs be included?

One thing that seems key is driving the PCs toward each other, which I think the Debts and large scale threats will help with. Has anyone other thoughts here?

For the “take a Move from another Archetype” advances, would you say that includes Drama Moves?

For the “take a Move from another Archetype” advances, would you say that includes Drama Moves? Not sure if that was the intent, but I think it could create some interesting characters and moments (kill an Immortal, take their Immortality for example), so I’d personally allow it.

For those who preordered rather than backing the KS campaign, will any content be backer exclusive, and not appear…

For those who preordered rather than backing the KS campaign, will any content be backer exclusive, and not appear in the main book and Dark Streets? (Mainly wondering about Archetypes and City Guides.)

Meeting someone for the first time in play- Faction Moves vs. Skin Moves

Meeting someone for the first time in play- Faction Moves vs. Skin Moves

Meeting someone for the first time in play- Faction Moves vs. Skin Moves

So playing US today with Declan Feeney  and when two PC’s met with or interacted with forces loyal to an hostile Immortal, we didnt “Put a Face to a Name” (which is about knowing something interesting or important about them. they owe you a debt or learning their reputation) but rather we went for the very similar Aware:Did Your Homework (Know a dangerous secret about them)  and the Immortal: Been Around (You previously knew them, they might owe you a debt, or something from the past you know or have is useful now).

But the Skin moves feel a lot like the Faction move, and cover much the same ground thematically (knowing about an NPC to your advantage (or disadvantage on a miss).  So,  in terms of Advance marking, should such moves count as Faction moves? (and be included into their text).

Or, is the way to play it when meeting a new NPC be for the player to always call for a “Put a Face to a Name” move and then follow up with the Skin Move?  I worry that it could just add extra pressure on the GM to create some cool info on the fly for the Know the Face, and then have to think up even cooler answers to a subsequent roll, moments later.

I think if the Skin  move covers the same ground as a Factional Move then perhaps they should count as Faction moves and have that notation included in the final text of the playbooks.
