I noticed in US there is not a default search/spot move. Only one for places of power. This came up in our first session so I have made a custom move:

Scope out a Situation

When you survey your surroundings to gain understanding roll on Mind. On a 7-9 choose 2. On a 10+ choose 3.

• What is not as it seems?

• Where is the greatest danger?

• What here is useful to me?

• What is the best way in or out?

• Oracle only: What is about to happen?

• I do not bring attention to myself

Thoughts welcome.

Well, believe it or not, I just recently saw for the first time The Crow movie (the original with Brandon Lee).

Well, believe it or not, I just recently saw for the first time The Crow movie (the original with Brandon Lee). And I’m wanting to work on a playbook for Urban Shadows now that Halloween is coming! But what Faction do you think it should be? My first thought was Night, but Wild may fit too, no? #thecrow #urbanshadows

I’m about two sessions into running an Urban Shadows game for four players, and we’re having a blast.

I’m about two sessions into running an Urban Shadows game for four players, and we’re having a blast. However, the rate at which we are accumulating rumors, locations, and NPCs is clearly too much for my brain and poor MC playbook sheet to handle.

My solution was to create a Drive folder with charts to track Rumors and NPCs and a custom Google Map to keep track of the locations. I shared it with my players and encouraged them to add to the map or the sheets as they saw fit and they took to it enthusiastically, adding their characters homes to the map etc.

Below is a link to the folder in Drive (this is a copy of the one we are using). Feel free to steal my charts for templates or to make suggestions for improvements!

Its definitely a work in progress. For example, I still need to go back to my hand written notes for the NPC debts and rumors from the first session and add them to the charts, I’m considering making a separate debt chart, and I plan eventually to make an MC only chart to track Threats. Still, I think it’s pretty useful and I am pleased with my conditional formatting rules to color code the factions 🙂

Hi.

Hi.

Hi.

Because I think that the Wolf is kinda, well, weak and not fun to play… ok, actually I just don’t like it and neither does my gaming group, but that’s another topic… Anyway I decided to make an alternate version of this archetype.

Classic reluctant werewolf, inspired by Jeckyll/Hyde and similar tropes.

So, if you want a more unwilling werewolf, here is a first version of the playbook (I will update it at the same link):

It keeps just one move from the original (and gear which I will fix later). I would love some feedback.

Thank you.

Character Sheet Overview

Character Sheet Overview

Character Sheet Overview

#OnlinePlay   #CharacterSheets

With friendly permission of the authors I can share a character sheet overview for Urban Shadows!

It’s designed to hold up to 4 characters and a few things are done by the sheet itself. After selecting a Archetype, the sheet will enter the corresponding Corruption Move, Intimacy Move and End Move and the debt overview will grab the names of the characters.

There is an extra worksheet with every Archetype Move (Basic only!) for copy & paste.

I believe the rest is self-explanatory if you know the game. The overview won’t replace the actual playbooks or even the core rules itself. It will only make it easier to organize your characters for online gaming!

So I know people are making all kinds of cool things and I’ve seen a bunch of custom moves in threads as I’ve read through!  Unfortunately, G+ probably doesn’t offer the best way to keep these things stored for future players who may be interested in it.  As such, I’ve put up a Google Document until there’s a better idea for how we might share custom moves!

If you have moves you’d like to add to it, please feel free to do so!  I’ll also likely be keeping an eye out and asking people if they’d like to add to the repository.

Currently in there: A very cool way for a wizard or other magical practitioner to read from the Book of the Dead.

Alright.

Alright.

Alright. So my group contains a wizard. Specifically, they are really hooked on the idea of being a necromancer. The beginning bits of this were easy-the sanctum has a knowledgeable servant (a ghost they bound) and a few lovely necromantic themes.

The issue is for when they complete the first items in their sanctum. They obviously want to raise some dead, and here is my preliminary write up of a book of the dead-

When you read from the book of the dead over the bodies of the fallen, roll with Spirit. On a hit, you raise a small horde that will obey your commands-                      On a 10+, pick 3, on a 7-9, pick two.

-They can serve your will at a distance

-They do not hunger for human flesh

-You don’t take -1 ongoing while they are summoned

-You do not have to mark corruption

On a miss, you summon them, but things go horribly horribly wrong.

I took inspiration from the Ghoul move in the MC book, but was curious if we had any thoughts to iron out the kinks here-I don’t like there are two drawbacks to the wizard (corruption and the -1 ongoing), but was struggling to think of compelling items-and how compelling those are is debatable.

New, not-to-shabby-looking, playtested version of Mage.

New, not-to-shabby-looking, playtested version of Mage.

New, not-to-shabby-looking, playtested version of Mage. It’s a replacement for Wizard, meant to invoke the fun of open-ended magic. Watch out for paradox! Feel free to use, or let me know if you have any feedback, especially if you try it in your games.

Note: this was designed to support a party of mages, so the Tradition determines the faction. Feel free to leave that out if you only have one.

I also figured out how to use Google Docs to make the character look almost like a real Archetype. I’m happy to share if anyone is interested.

UPDATED VERSION: 6.2 – updated mana rules.
