Played my first 2 episodes this weekend as creative. Had some great spots that made us all laugh. Including a hardcore match starting in a locker room during an segment where I had a Clown Gimmick lacing up his boots and the Hardcore come in to give him a piece of his mind before they wrestled. But instead of a piece of his mind, he hit him in the face with a wrench and started the match as a hardcore match!

Had another spot where I had my corrupt NPW champion and his goons power bomb a NPW through a table off the entrance ramp before his match started and his opponent (a jobber player) ran in to attack the NPW as well but botched his run in, so the Champ and his goons put him through a table too and the match started with them both laid out.

It was a big hit and we will be playing again for sure.

Had our first WWW session last night.

Four gimmicks are in play currently:

The anti-hero

The Provocateur

The giant

and the Clown.

We did the setting the heat introduction for all the characters. Some of the ideas that come about during “setting nether heat” are just great; I love how it sets upon the relationships for the rest of the program.

It turned out that most of the players had 2 points of heat with each other except the Provocateur who had three points of heat with the giant. With that in mind I booked two matches of NPW vs NPW then the Antihero vs the clown, then another NPW match then finally the Giant vs the Provocateur. (highest heat matchup got the main event)

I did a very quick introduction to the NPW’s of note, and then moved right into the program.

I started saying that the stage manager told the first two NPW’s to hit the curtain and their music started and the crowd cheered, asked if any of the players wanted to do anything during the match. There were some verbal exchanged behind the scenes.

I did the same for the second NPW match, I described that one of the NPW’s took a hard shot during the match and was cut below the eye. The stage manager told the locker room that they needed some time to get the blood cleaned up at ringside so she pointed at the Anti Hero and “shoved a mic in his face” telling him to go keep the crowd busy.

He did by getting cheap heat calling the venue (Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie New York) a dump. Durring his tirade the clown snuck up behind him and did some “comic Relief” mocking him and dancing about. The clown rolled an 11 total and owned the segment, capturing the crowd.

The next match was the clown and the Anti Hero, and the antihero’s mind was set on revenge.

The clown began the match with clownish antics, including a pie in the face, but then botched an attempted flame spurting flower trick. The clown’s shirt caught aflame, and during the confusion the anti-hero grabbed a chair from ringside and took a seat to ostensibly watch a clown burn to death. When that failed to happen he folded up the chair and crowned the Clown with-it (Rules? What Rules?) Rolling over a 10 he knocked the clown cold. The anti-hero unfolded the chair and took a seat with his feet up on the clown and said a few choice words to the crowed before leaving the ring.

(During the matches we had two announcers (the other two players) who did the face vs. heel announcer thing very well. )

Next was an uneventful NPW match.

Lastly it was the giant vs the Provocateur. Now in the case the player has made the GIANT truly GIANT. Like 7 foot 4 400 Pounds Giant. Anyone in the ring with him is facing an uphill fight.

Match started with the giant offering a test of strength, with the Provocateur avoided and grabbed control of the match by using a very clever mind games move. The Provocateur maintained control for a few actions behind very strong dice, leading to a take down on the big man and a hold, but once the giant got back to his feet he floored the Provocateur with one massive head but then set him up for his finisher (an inverted Celtic Cross, face buster). Before the finish could materialize the Anti-hero ran in an interrupted by grabbing the provocateurs legs and preventing the finisher!

The crowd went nuts. The provocateur got disqualified, the Giant go t very angry over the dusty finish and the Anti-hero gave everyone a snarky grin.

The giant and the Anti Hero are booked for next week.

Close of show.

It was a good time and lots of fun I think the folks that played are up for another game next week.

Matthew Caulder is playing Curtis Jackson, the Ace (#2timechamp)

Jason Cox is playing Acero, the Luchador (and papa of La Familia)

Joe Zantek is playing Bella “The Beast” Bardot, the Shoot Fighter

Justin Hunt is playing Marc Garner, The Young Boy

Our promotion is Global Elite Pro, a “best of the best” style Japanese outfit with a permanent home base, the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. With an ambitious (though trustworthy) management team, the company is attempting to rapidly establish itself on the global stage. Unfortunately, this means that it’s in debt and overextended. Led by Curtis Jackson’s example, the roster has created a buzzworthy strong social media presence and Bella Bardot in particular has captured the local crowd, drawing a devoted following to the arena. Unfortunately, the GEP original international cable deal has fallen through and potential advertisers still aren’t sold on the concept – will Global Elite Pro pivot to focus on the local crowd, or can it really fulfill the dream of a international Best In Sport long-running professional wrestling showcase?

(bold = tags and troubles)

Plotwise, we’ve seen:

– Curtis Jackson, the highest-profile get for the new promotion, struggle to remain on top despite holding 2 world titles from previous companies and all the goodwill in the world

– Acero work every angle he can to become the power broker of the company through his faction, La Familia, while fending off other high flying challengers

– Bella Bardot turn from MMA-standout babyface to joining Acero’s La Familia faction after a facefull of asian mist from Yoshi Togo, the trainer of the Young Boys. Now unleashed, the Beast is legitimately the hottest act on the card

– Marc Garner grow from “guy wearing a cowboy hat” to having real impact on the quest for the championships, including his discovery that twitching the curtain on what’s going on backstage gets more eyes on him every time

Despite some missteps in my handling of the card at times (game-running stuff, not rules-stuff), the game has been fun and very, very helpful for ironing out kinks in these Gimmicks and some of the new match stipulations and Audience Moves, in particular. Unfortunately, nobody’s rolled a natural 12 for a Mythic Moment yet!

Anyway. Many thanks to these gentlemen for their help in tightening up rules, all while being so fun to play with. We still have some episodes to go (we just established the contenders for the first-ever Global Elite Pro Championships), but I wanted to mark (a) what I’m actually getting to playtest on my end and (b) that there’s progress on the new rules, even while I haven’t been posting much!

Had another episode of WRESTLING ACTION WRESTLING!

Had another episode of WRESTLING ACTION WRESTLING!

This time, the show was able to be sold to cable, so management wanted a breakout moment with two bankable stars. Unfortunately, 3 of the PCs were violent lunatics (The Monster, The Hardcore, and the Lester the Jester, the Wasted). The Ace, Tommy “Rebel Yell” Houston, was a good ol’ boy who loved product placement and covering his own ass.

The night ended with a five man match for the title. The Ace, however, had hurt his hand trying to beat up the Wasted backstage. He cut a promo on why he should be part of the match (so he could plead injury when he didn’t win) He rolled snakeyes, however, so the company president agreed…and made him referee!

The match was a Burning Soul flaming tables match. To win, you had to launch your opponent through 2 flaming tables. The Jester eliminated the champ easily.

The Hardcore hit the Monster with a shopping cart, launching him through two flaming tables. Unfortunately, the Ace pretended not to see it.

The Wasted grabbed a microphone and called the Ace out on his BS, turning from villain to hero. He demanded a new stipulation…if the Ace wanted to be out here so bad, he was back in the match!

The hardcore and the monster eventually beat each other into submission, leaving just the Rebel and the Jester. The Jester snuck to the top rope, trying to finish off the Ace…

And botched.

He spent all his momentum to make it a mixed bag, so instead of flying through the table, he sent his opponent soaring backwards across the ring, inches away from being burnt.

The Ace gritted his teeth.

He grabbed the Jester by the waist.

[First roll: 6. Second roll: 6.]

And FLUNG the Jester, overhead, with a broken hand, directly through two flaming tables.

Tommy Houston made a clip that’d be in the intro reel for the federation for the next ten years. Yes, he somehow won a championship despite not being booked in the match.

My mind is on fire but, unfortunately, my throath is also on fire and I lost my voice since yesterday.

I hope I’ll find a way to get rid of one of my Injury checks before the big game. I’m not sure that the Creative is supposed to whisper during a WWWRPG session (didn’t see that in the Agenda).

Great time tonight.

Great time tonight.

Great time tonight. Had a “Raising the Barre” match, which, despite great pomp, was “a ballet barre is attached to one of the ring ropes”.  (It was inspired by the ex-Ballerina Athlete).

Competitors made great use of the narrow length of board, hitting backflips off it, sliding it into opponent’s midsections, and using it for a running headscissors takedown.

What gimmick matches has everyone run lately?
