AGES ago, I read an article posted by someone who used to do Pro Wrestling stuff, but he couldn’t do it anymore, and extolled the virtues of WWWRPG as a really good way for him to recapture the magic of wrestling even if he was unable to do it for real. Does anyone else remember this? I can’t find it anywhere.

Well friends, thanks in large part to that Polygon article, there has been quite an upswing in WWWRPG sales since the New Year! I know it’s been quiet in here recently, but I just wanted to post a Welcome to anyone who’s encountering the game for the first time and taking a look at this community. I’m glad you’re here, and happy to field questions about the game.

I have a couple non-wrestling projects on my plate that will be taking up my time for the first couple months of this year, but I’m hoping to publish some new content by the summer, as well. So stay tuned!

Hi. I’m going to start a game soon here in Kuwait (yes, we tabletop!). Nobody in the group is a wrestling fan but me, however we have played Fiasco and D&D in the group before so we’re all familiar with RPGs/narrative games.

I’m thinking of doing a one-off episode with premade characters (I’ve created some lovely CHIKARA/Kaiju Big Battel characters) to introduce everyone before running a full season in something more grounded. Does anyone have any top tips? House rules? General ‘Creative’ advice? Super excited to plan it out and have tons of ideas!

A Wrestler concept that’s been rolling around in my head. A popular wrestler that was dropped from the promotion due to addiction issues, reckless behaviour in the ring, etc. He’s finally cleaned up and is trying to get back into the promotion. After some time in the Indie Circuit he’s sort of proven himself for a probationary period. As long as he keeps clean, of course it’s very likely that he’ll fall off the wagon again. He’s popular, though it’s more for his notoriety from his earlier days in the ring. Rather than any particular skill at wrestling (though he has been training to improve as part of his trying to turn over a new leaf). Of course the fans don’t want to see him for his wrestling, they want to see him for the crazy stunts he used to pull. Which puts pressure on him to do dangerous stuff once again (sober or not).

My question is, would the Wasted Playbook work for this or would I have to come up with custom Playbook?

so, played in lowell’s game today and again i’m having concerns about how to build positive heat between wrestlers. I got lucky tonight in that i was thrown into a royal rumble with the character i wanted to build positive heat with, allowing me to use my face move to gain heat, but apart from this it seems like the only reliable way to build heat (to the point you can get tag teamed) is through promo.

It does seem strange that you can’t use face moves to build positive heat as it only lets you gain heat with your opponent.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?
