I’m using a service that gives me both sides, so I decided to put Eric Quigley ‘s unadorned cover art wrap on the “back” side. So you can just display that, if you don’t care for any of the designs!

If you have one coming to you feel free to use the link there to confirm your choice, and I’ll also be sending everyone a reminder with all the info I need to capture from you through Kickstarter tonite or tomorrow.

If you want to get an additional poster (or order one, if you didn’t pledge for one), I’m currently adding that to my web store and info about that will be in the upcoming update as well.

I’m saving the official Kickstarter update until I have them in my cold, scaly hands (my skin gets so dry in the winter), but I have UPS notifications for 3 boxes of books to arrive by the end of the day tomorrow.

If you live in the midwest you might get your book tomorrow, too!

Commence “panicked conviction that I somehow fucked up the final files and all these books are going to be garbage”!

Eeeeeeeee

Selling is about the story. About context. That’s why it works differently in different parts of the world. In Mexico, luchadors don’t sell like their North American counterparts. The drama of the injury isn’t important to the story they’re telling; lucha libre is essentially a battle between superheroes and villains, and the themes aren’t really sports-based. They’re about justice, mostly, and about being larger than life. You don’t want to see Blue Panther shaking out his fist after he punches a guy, you want to see him shrug off the pain and jump on somebody. Context. In Japan there’s a lot going on, but “fighting spirit” is the thing you hear about. That’s not about simply no-selling a move … it’s about ABSORBING the move and dealing with the pain, because your desire to win is stronger than your brain and your body. Your soul’s basically willing you forward. That’s why you’ll see some guys pop up from a big move, hit a move of their own and THEN collapse. It’s about being bigger than yourself. The energy of the match. In the U.S. we’re obsessed with the masculinity of pro sports, so we want to see people get hurt and come back, but there has to be a visible struggle. The physics of what we’re watching have to make sense, because we need to convince ourselves in the moment that what we’re watching is “real.” If we’re taken out of it for a second it becomes too easy to dismiss. That’s our culture, and that’s why our art comes out looking this way.

Thanks to some audience inquiries, I’m making audio-only versions of the World Wide Wrestling RPG Journeyman’s Cup Tournament series available on my website! Scroll down to the bottom of the page for video links to each Youtube session, and audio embeds. You can download the MP3s as well!

The Journeyman’s Cup Tournament is a live ongoing Google Hangouts game of World Wide Wrestling. Each Episode is about 2-2.5 hours long, and it’s really fun! The first couple of Episodes showcase mechanics and spend a little more time explaining how the rules work, and then around Ep 4 it transitions to us just playing the game.

I’m told listening is pretty fun as well – if nothing else, there’s amazing in-character promos and ringside commentary. We’re 5 Episodes in and plan to continue until we find out WHO WILL BE THE NEXT WORLD WIDE WRESTLING JOURNEYMAN’S CUP CHAMPION!

Dear Kickstarter backers! An informal poll. I have leftover shirts from the campaign (which I’ve been intending to sell all along, cuz what else am I going to do with a bunch of shirts). I’m also really liking how the posters are coming out, and am thinking of putting them up for sale as well. Neither will be available until I know that books are hitting mailboxes, of course.

Does this diminish the feeling of getting something cool and special for backing the campaign? Or would you rather see this stuff out in the world (and, honestly, all sales help me out a lot financially).

The posters will actually be passing through my hands (originally I thought I could get them direct-mailed, but no). So I’m thinking of signing them or doing something else that marks them as “KS exclusive”, if that helps.

Or leave your thoughts in the comments!
