Hi all

Hi all

Hi all

Quick question about characters and limits that I think im getting wrong,

Just preparing some pregens for a run at the upcoming Wyntercon here in the UK and I think im missreading the rules on defining powers.

Taking Iconic below, an ordinary women who gains superpowers she has two major things that effect her life

1. She now contantly generates a low level static field effecting any one she touches

2. That pesky battle between responsibility of power and upcoming eal life events, like a marriage

As it stands I have rated these separately, one as almost impossible and the other fequently difficult. But as I go over the other characters here and the latest PDF is the actual intention that you look at them as a whole?

So in the case of Iconic, both of these earn her only the “Almost Impossible, Bonds and extra powers

Here is the Iconic, although depending on the answer above I may well have to regig a few bits.

YOUR STORY SO FAR:

It had been going well for Susie and Stephen. Their relationship rapidly heading in good directions. That afternoon, they’d enjoyed Kew and then found a spot in the new picnic grounds in Battersea Power station. The storm came in unexpectedly but with just enough warning that most people had time to pack away and start to move before the first strike of lightning hit the

ground, drawing everyone’s attention, as it seemed to leap from the sky down one of the remaining chimneys and out into the picnic area.

While a lot of people suffered minor burns, 3 bore the brunt of the blast. Stephen and Susie suffered 3rd degree burns and Stephen was knocked into a coma for a week. The third was a 14

year old boy, no one has ever come forward to claim him and while he survives unaided, he is still in a coma.

When Stephen came to, they noted an increase in static around him and Susie. Also that both healed amazingly quickly. But nothing to trigger any major alarms and so our story seems to draw to a close, wedding bells on the a wind tinged with sadness.

Or so it seems, except a few weeks later a figure clothed in electricity stopped an armoured car robbery outside of Battersea Park with Battersea Power station as a backdrop. Then a few weeks later she appeared again. Stopping another heist with the London Eye as a backdrop. When the figure appeared again, with Trafalgar Square as a backdrop, stopping an assassination, the press had enough to choose their own name for the nameless, calling the figure, Iconic. The name stuck, much to

Susie’s bemusement. She’d never meant to get involved. She had discovered her powers by accident, and out of a sense of responsibility had gotten involved. It all started because Susie had returned to Battersea looking for answers, the other two times that the press focused on had been rather cut short dates. Although actually Iconic had acted on several more occasions.

Stephen has so far forgiven Susie’s slightly odd behaviour since the accident. Admitting that he to has felt ‘out of sorts’ himself.

Im going to Wyntercon in the UK at the end of October and hoping to run a game at least of WIP (fingers crossed with the actual pdf 😉 ) and I was hoping someone  wouldn’t mind having a look over some of  what i’m putting together to make sure im still on the right track.

First up is one of the first Villains (yep stealing quite happily from some of my favorite villains for the game. Although they’ll be twists to make them my own when creativity takes me.), a favorite of mine because he’s just a good old fashioned villain.

This is The Wrecker from before the team, Dirk has just gained the power . I’m using him in the game as a way for the table to get a feel for the game and there characters, but in no way is he going to be a pushover.

The Wrecker

Dirk Garthwaite

Type: heavy Hitter

Motivation: Power and Money

Appearance: tall and Muscular man with square features and an intimidating stance.

Character: Prone to outbursts of violence, he is otherwise a very straight forward personality.

[A] Accidentally enchanted Crowbar [4]

(He must be holding it, if he loses it he immediately takes the conditions as weakened or / & loss of power)

*Powers of an Asgardian demi God

–Near Godlike strength

–resistant  to temperature Extremes [2]

–tough as a demi god [2]

–Invulnerable to harm from a normal mans attack

*Ameuteur Wrestler

–ill crush you!

What do people think?

Hey all, just doing more character creating with the latest rules. Here’s my main dude again.

Codename – SENTINEL

Playbook – My Mission/ Lead

Real Name – Major Morgan McConnelly (Classified)

Greatest Foe – Husks (The Wronged) The deformed and insane test subjects from PROJECT NIGHT SKY (see below).

They all have one or two powers similar to Sentinel’s, but they are monstrously deformed, insane, and very violent.

Current Costume – http://imgur.com/ZtuyaeF

Internal DoD memo Classified ABOVE TOP SECRET

PROJECT NIGHT SKY

in 2013 an object made planetfall above Chelyabinsk Russia. Official reports state it was simply a meteor which broke up on entry into our atmosphere, official reports are wrong, the Object (NIGHTSKY  NS-00001) was a lone alien craft, intercepted and transported (Covert Flag: DEEP BLACK) to (REDACTED) research installation in (REDACTED), where it was then transferred to the United States (CONUS).

Of the crew, the sole surviving alien inside (NIGHTSKY XT-00013) was of a type we had never encountered before, It breathed an atmosphere of Argon and Krypton, but shared some surprsing genetic similarities with us. It was kept and interrogated for several months before it died.

Research:

Analysis of its anatomy and bodily functions yielded an interesting silvery hormone researchers dubbed “StellaChrome” (NIGHTSKY XTC-40) the source of which was a small gland, which pumped like a secondary heart, that pushed this substance throughout the alien’s body tissues.

Preliminary testing on dish cloned human tissue yielded exciting results, this hormone bound itself into the cellular structures and further reacted to a broad spectrum of “Solar and UV Energies” which tightened the quantum bonds of that tissue sample, making it very nearly indestructible. This process was dubbed the ‘Photonucleic Effect’.

Testing – Success:

It was hypothesized that the generating organ the “Star Heart” as it was called, was required to regulate the StellaChrome in it’s host systems. A volunteer was accepted, and with only minor  complications the Star Heart was implanted into Subject 0.

Subject 0 has experienced very few drawbacks, and a whole host of amazing benefits. Every cell in his body has increased in strength and durability,  he is now practically indestructible by most standards (which has created a setback for further internal studies).

Newly discovered secondary effects of the Star Heart:

– A unique gravitational lensing effect which has allowed the subject  limited levitation, and with several weeks’ practice, full unaided flight.

– Neural activity in the subject’s brain and motor neurons are increasing at an exponential rate, hinting at eventual speed and reaction times far beyond human norms.

Further Testing:

With the only extant Star Heart implanted into Subject 0, the next stage of testing moved on to a synthesized StellaChrome derivative known as SynChrome.

Human trials of the synthesized hormone were approved 11/10/13, wherein a group of military volunteers were dosed with SynChrome, the results were as impressive as they were horrifying. Each subject’s body was enhanced to a greater or lesser degree like Subject 0, but these enhancements came with a host of secondary mutations, mental aberrations were also a significant drawback. The subjects became unstable, and unfortunately most were able to escape before they could be neutralized. They remain at large.

END FILE

Medical File (Addendum):

Morgan’s augmentations have made many tertiary changes throughout his body.

– The StellaChrome in his cells absorbs and channels solar energy through his tissues, his body temperature is almost 20 degreess higher than human norms, with a side advantage of killing off most pathogens and viruses before they can affect him.

– His abilities increase the strain on his metabolism so he has an

increased diet (8,000-10,000 cal/day with supplements as needed)

– Needs several hours in direct sunlight for bodily cells and the Star Heart to recharge.

MISC:

His vastly increased strength has made adjusting to everyday life exceedingly difficult, he has accidentally destroyed equipment, buildings, vehicles, and injured several personnel, but as he continues practice and with physical therapy for fine control of his movements, accidents have become exceedingly rare.

Limitations

(+4 Bonds, 2 extra simple, 2 extra difficult powers)

Sentinel cannot turn off his Strength and Toughness, he must concentrate and move with great care not to break things during normal everyday activities.

Sentinel gets tired and burned out through over exertion, and needs to spend time absorbing solar energy, resting, and eating to regain his strength. He has limits like any other person, his are just a lot further.

Sentinel needs to absorb Solar Energy regularly. Without it, he begins to feel sick. After awhile if he goes long enough without Solar energy, his powers start weakening within a day, and continue becoming weaker each day, until he can spend time in the sun again and recharge.

Sentinel can withstand the crushing pressures of the deep ocean or the heat of a volcano, but still needs to breathe, and sleep regularly.

ORIGIN: My Mission (STRIKE Division)

My current mission directive is to Uphold and Enforce International Laws regarding Superhuman or Advanced Technological Crimes.

The uncontrollable evolution of science, technology and superhuman abilities have caused rates of superhuman crime, terrorism, and other unexplained disastrous anomalies to outpace the ability of national military or police forces to cope. To combat this, The United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to create a multi-national research and enforcement division, with operatives and teams working closely with local law enforcement to identify, contain, or neutralize superpowered threats.

STRIKE Division (Superhuman Tactical Response, and International Key Enforcement)* was founded, pulling superpowered agents and operatives from all of it’s member nations, and using the co-operative research and Development efforts of various tech firms and research labs for technical and scientific support.

STRIKE Teams are in almost constant operation around the world.

MOVE: Benefactor

When you invoke STRIKE Resources in order to gain access to a specific piece of information, item or location, roll+Influence.

On a 10+, you gain both access and authority.

On a 7-9, you gain a degree of access, but there is an obstacle that presents itself before you can acquire your target, the EIC will tell you what it is.

DRIVE: Lead

Mission Statement – To Serve and Protect

Sentinel is loyal to his oaths and the basic ideals of justice and rule of law.

MOVE:Take Stock (Tactical Advantage)

When you read a charged situation, roll+Investigate.

On a 7+, you can ask the EIC questions. Whenever you act on one of the EIC’s answers, take +1 forward.

On a 10+, ask 2.

On a 7–9, ask 1:

• Where’s my best escape route / way in / way past?

• Which enemy is most vulnerable to me?

• Which enemy is the biggest threat?

• What’s my enemy’s true position?

• If I had to make a stand here, where would be best?

• How can I gain the undivided attention of all those present?

What I carry

Harry is an unusually powerful Wizard, he lacks fine control, but he is probably in the top 10 in terms of raw power. This means he is constantly getting offers of recruitment from various supernatural powers, or offers to trade him even more power in exchange for his services. He has thus far refused, but the temptation of power is always there.

I’m trying to stat up a character of mine in WiP, and I’m having trouble picking an Origin playbook for him. Nothing really matches what I have in mind.

Super C (the gentleman representing my Avatar on the left) wanted to be a superhero his whole life, and prayed to God for powers as a child. As he entered adulthood, powers manifested for him (flaky at first, then stabilized), so he became a superhero in one identity. When that identity didn’t work out, he became… Super C!

Yeah, he’s basically a mutant, and whether his powers came by divine intervention or they just happened is up for debate, but either way, he got what he wanted.

Now, he is haunted by the death of a girlfriend, which has nothing to do with his superheroing. I’m thinking of making that a Bond.

So, I’m open for suggestions. Maybe I don’t need an Origin playbook at the moment?

Shadowman

As a child he was terrified of dark places. His father tried to break him of his fear by making him confront it. Locked in closets with nothing to do he worked on his fear of the dark, focusing, examining shadows until he found he could enter the shadows or make them solid.

Travelling in the Shadow Space, the dimension accessed by stepping through shadows, he discovered it was populated with strange creatures. Realizing that these creatures were the rational reason people fear the dark, he made it his life’s work to defend our world from them.

Years ago, his investigations lead him to believe that there is a weak point in the City that might let Shadows through. He’s spent a decade at the City University as a Professor of Philosophy.

A Dedicated Life: Years of studying shadows and the dark have shown him a world that few if any others know about. Shadow Space is a world; and one children are right to fear. Strange creatures live in the shadows and occasionally escape or at least reach into ours.

-The powers my knowledge grants me are an understanding of the physical and spiritual nature of shadows, shadow creatures, and the Shadow Space.

-The burden of my powers is to guard against invaders from the Shadow Space and not to let the Darkness in.
