(This is just taken from the Stop, Hack, & Roll website. We had a couple of episodes on Pasion de los Pasiones that may or may not be interesting to people! LOTS of changes happened after the first episode, but I still figured I’d make it available!

Pasión de los Pasiónes

A GM-Fluid PbtA hack that aims to capture the feeling of the most dramatic of media, the telenovela. Players take on the roll of characters in a Latinx soap opera for a single episode. Pasión de los Pasiónes is meant to play fast and a little meta, with frequent attention paid to the audience and how they react to characters.

For more information check out Episode 4 and Episode 13 as well as on Twitter with #PasiondelosPasiones!

I’m very excited that in association with the Stop, Hack, and Roll Podcast, I’ll be running a game of Masks with Meg (The Bull) from Modifier, Jeff (The Legacy) from Party of One Podcast, and Quinn (The Delinquent) from Swallows of the South Podcast! They’re an awesome group of people with some fantastic podcasts and we just wanted to let people know in case they were interested in streaming or checking it out on YouTube later!

Social Media For Online Games

Hey Masks Lovers!

I’m about to start two concurrent Masks games playing online on a bi-weekly basis with the conceit that both teams are in the same city and can crossover as necessary. I’m super excited about getting these groups going and have a couple of little tricks (weekly news-paper articles! Giant Sized Issues!) but was trying to work out a good way to have some shared social media going.

Teenage superheroes ought to be texting or tweeting or something, so I’d love to have some kind of an ongoing available chat/forum for this, ideally one that’s easy to get people to check.

Any advice from people for the best way to do this? I considered Slack, but I’m not sure if there’s a better way.

Thanks!

Would anybody be interested in an Urban Shadows one shot on December 11th?

Would anybody be interested in an Urban Shadows one shot on December 11th? I’m thinking somewhere between noon and 8 EST on Hangouts (likely not that entire time, but I’m pretty flexible in terms of exact span).

I don’t have too many details in mind yet, but I thought I’d poll at least here for interest before getting too exact!

It abruptly occurred to me that since US has come out, I haven’t tried to find any podcasts showing off its play!

Anyone know of a podcast or similar situation that played US?

So, I’ve been talking with a group of potential players and we were discussing the huge amount of horror (especially American horror) that takes place out in the woods: cabins, small towns in the mountains, off the beaten track.

I’m thinking of running an Urban Shadows in such a community, something with deep, freaky roots and families that go way back, perhaps during a time of turmoil where the town is falling into chaos and disarray.  So, what moves, playbooks, etc. need to change to make this so?

Hit The Streets: This may just need a remain, perhaps ‘Consult The Local Gossip’ or something.

Factions: These feel at first like they may be less of an effect in a small town, but the more I think about it the more I’m thinking it would fit exceptionally well.  The difference would just be that the Night faction isn’t a massive army of vampires, it’s a small brood that has lived on the outskirts for a while.

I’m thinking this could be a fun way to try to turn some of the creepiness of Urban Shadows up.  Anyone else tried to add ‘Sub’ to Urban Shadows or even Rural Shadows?

Just got my book and dice!  They look amazing!

Looks like I’m going to keep Halloween going with the Indie+ Horror Anthology’s Urban Shadows threat too!

The faerie has decided to take Skin the Surface from the Oracle and I just thought that is the coolest thing, especially combined with Bedlam.

So I know people are making all kinds of cool things and I’ve seen a bunch of custom moves in threads as I’ve read…

So I know people are making all kinds of cool things and I’ve seen a bunch of custom moves in threads as I’ve read through!  Unfortunately, G+ probably doesn’t offer the best way to keep these things stored for future players who may be interested in it.  As such, I’ve put up a Google Document until there’s a better idea for how we might share custom moves!

If you have moves you’d like to add to it, please feel free to do so!  I’ll also likely be keeping an eye out and asking people if they’d like to add to the repository.

Currently in there: A very cool way for a wizard or other magical practitioner to read from the Book of the Dead.

I’m working on a couple of archetypes to throw up as fan content, but I’m hitting a kind of silly stumbling block.

Do people have recommendations for how they choose the names that are listed?  I’m not completely sure how to come up with a name that is Phoenix-y.
