I need some help, folks. I’m currently working on a PbtA Pokemon game with a trainer-centric focus (the pokemon are a mix of weapon tags and GM moves). I’m trying to find a good way to do Hx/Bonds/etc., but I can’t find a satisfactory way to do it. I think part of the problem is the player dynamic: you command pokemon, having them do things using your stats. So aiding/interfering seems odd, but I feel like it’s important to have inter-player connections, ya know?

Any suggestions?

I recently got the book and I really dig it.

I recently got the book and I really dig it. My one complaint was that the playbooks were more than one page. So, with a bit of work in InDesign, I whipped these up for the core playbooks really quick. I’m sure there’s typos and things, but these are only a first stab at them. Let me know what you think!

So, Dungeon World has Fronts, MotW has Arcs, and Apoc World has the Map of Suffering (or something like that).

So, Dungeon World has Fronts, MotW has Arcs, and Apoc World has the Map of Suffering (or something like that). Is there something along those lines for Urban Shadows, whether already existing or just in the works?

Hey guys!

Hey guys! Looking forward to getting my copy of Monsterhearts (won’t be able to get it until Christmas, unfortunately) but that’s not why I’m posting. I had an idea while I was looking through the skins: what if they were superheroes, specifically X-Men? Instead of the Vampire, what if it were the Cyclops, or the Beast, or the Iceman?

Has anyone tried to do anything like this before? And if nobody has, would anyone like to help me make it so?

Ran my first game of Urban Shadows last night, and it was fantastic!

Ran my first game of Urban Shadows last night, and it was fantastic! Awesome job, Andrew Medeiros! I’ll post an AP report later today, but I want to make a few comments now:

– I love the Debts system! While the players actually didn’t spend any Debts this session, the way they also work as bonds is really cool.

– All of the archetypes are really cool! Our group had a Tainted mafia heir, a Red Court Vamp (he wanted Dresden Files style vampire courts, but without the gross stuff from Red Court vamps), a Dragon information broker, an Immortal who’s actually a Carthaginian soldier who can only die when Scipio Africanus’ ring is destroyed, and a CEO king who controls 80% of Congress, more or less.

– I also love how quickly each player gets their own agenda, and how easy it is to push those and challenge them.

I did have one question though. How many highlighted stats does each character get? I couldn’t find it in the rules, so I only gave them 1. But at the end of the session, the most XP a player had was one. Should they have 2, like in AW?
