Ok.

Ok.

Ok… despite being loaded with work to do for Nahualli RPG, I can’t shake out of my head the idea for a #PoweredbytheApocalypse version of the #Ravenloft setting. I’m very fond of this setting, and I believe the AW engine fits it very well. So I’ve made my decision and may be calling it Raven World! What do you think? (Damn, why can’t I just do one thing at a time!)

  1. I’m actually pretty curious about how you’d go about this.  My perception of Ravenloft is that it was sort of an uncomfortable fit for AD&D – you have these gothic stories based on weakness and isolation, and that doesn’t entirely work with the “brave adventurer” class progression.

My perception is, too, that most *World characters are pretty strong – they tend to be the movers and shakers in their spheres.  So would you be thinking about the rise of new darklords?

I do think the options for 6- hard moves in the demiplane of dread would be a ton of fun, though.

  2. Yes, the moves and the 7-9 hard choices too. And I’m also thinking about the Domains as fronts! The Dark Powers as the World Psychic Maelstrom, so when you open your brain, you’ll be tempted by them! This may be how your character may ends turning into a new Dark Lord. I think there’s a ton of juice here. I’ll be borrowing from all the *Worlds I know (though I don’t know them all). But things from AW, DW, MH and Tremulus of course. The important thing is that AW engine allows you to focus on the narrative, rather than just hacking and slashing. Let’s see how this turns out.
