With the Apocalypse Sonata upcoming, I think Legionnaires (1994) would make great inspiration with its cosmic setting for a group of teenage superheroes.

How are people keeping track of Influence?  It feels like it should be somewhere on the Playbooks, since you’ll have varying Influence over the other players and it can change a fair amount through play.

I can only see the bit for starting Influence and for tracking NPCs losing their Influence.

So, the beta files are not of much use without the system.

Ex: Jaguar Jr hits Toymaster with a clubbing blow (10+), sending him into a stack of boxes (making him Insecure). Toymaster brings in the Lifesize Nutcracker Robots: Do they immediately shoot a hole in the wall, endangering the factory, or is it more fair to say they Charge Up Their Eyelasers and ask RePete what he does next?

Been reading the files:

When you encounter a superpowered being…

As written this move would trigger EVERY time you met anyone that has superpowers, including your teammates. Even when you define encounter as “first time” it would still trigger not only on villains but on every superhero you met as well. Seems too disruptive in gameplay.

Suggested fix:

When you encounter a superpowered being for the first time in play, you may roll+superior.

The move would also get a lot out of the Spout Lore clause, i.e.

“The GM might ask you “How do you know this?” Tell them the truth, now.” to add a bit of fictional explanation to the whole study thing. There is a difference between Robin pulling stuff from the Batcomputer, Batgirl checking her internet database while fighting the threat or Squirrel Girl pulling out villain trading cards etc.

The GM might also ask what history their teacher has with the superpowered being etc.

So I’m trying to put together a demo game with some friends, and while I love the game, I don’t think my players will be quite the superhero or RPG nerd that I am. So I’m attempting to put together a list of characters who fit into each playbook – from both Marvel and DC – to use as examples. So far, what I’ve come up with is:

The Bull- America Chavez, X-23

The Nova- Wiccan, Justice, Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)

The Outsider- Starfire, Lucy in the Sky

The Legacy- Superboy, Kid Flash, Wondergirl, Nightwing, Nova (Sam Alexander)

The Protege- Robin, Speedy

The Janus- Spider-Man

The Delinquent- Speed, Chase Masterson

The Doomed- Raven, Veil, Hazmat

The Transformed- Cyborg, Beast Boy

The Beacon- Kate Bishop, Shadowcat

The Innocent – time-travelling X-Men

The Soldier- Patriot

The Star- Striker

The Joined- Stepford Cuckoos, Wonder Twins

The Harbinger- Iron Lad

I know I’m missing a few playbooks, and some more good examples from at least a couple. Any ideas?

I’m a little curious why “Unlock Moment Of Truth” is listed twice on every playbooks advancements.

I’m a little curious why “Unlock Moment Of Truth” is listed twice on every playbooks advancements. I took it as a sign it could happen twice, but someone else suggested it might be because you can’t select advancements below the line after six.

I doubt the later as that is unlike how any other PbtA game works, but it is possible. I still think it’s just so you can have two moments of truth and lock two labels.

-When you use your Mask to switch the value of your mundane with your mask’s label, how long does that last?

-If you lock your mundane stat, how does that interact with your Mask?
