Has anyone ever had a PvP situation come up in Masks?
I know it is contrary to the basic premise, but often in comics there are internal team fights that get physical. How have folks handled these things when they’ve come up?

I need help figuring out a villain’s powers.
I need help figuring out a villain’s powers. In my campaign the PCs are going up against a government super-soldier conspiracy called Project Aladdin, and they went to talk to a super-soldier who defected from them (and was in the hospital after a fight with these same PCs, long story) when two superpowered government agents showed up to silence the defector. I find I run best when I make things up as I go, so I hadn’t really planned the agents out in advance, but once the fight started I went with my gut and had one of the agents draw a sword out of nowhere, deciding on the spot that his power was to summon weapons. Our session ended before the second one could show their power.
One of the players had been looking through a random superhero name generator and reading off a bunch of silly names, among which were Giant Katana and Heart Stealer. And when I had the first agent summon his sword, the players got very excited about the idea that those were the two agents. I’m not using those for their actual codenames, but since it excited my players I want to embrace the idea. Obviously the sword-summoning guy is Giant Katana, so the one who has yet to show his power is Heart Stealer.
The first possible power that comes to mind for Heart Stealer is some kind of mind control, but I find mind-controlling villains are a pain to run. The second possibility is some kind of psychic surgery, where he can remove, insert or rearrange things inside a target’s body just by touching them, for example literally stealing someone’s heart. It’s a cool power, and fitting for a government assassin, but with something like that I don’t know how to keep him from just instantly killing any PC he lands a hit on. So I need to either find a way to nerf that, or come up with a different power for him. Any suggestions?
My son and his girlfriend made characters and had their first adventure.
My son and his girlfriend made characters and had their first adventure.
Son – Transformed – chose Plant Affinity & Transmuting Flesh. Looks like Swampthing/Manthing from the comics. Doesn’t know how he got transformed… just woke up in the woods lying in an impact crater (I’m going to have fun with this!!!). So far he has transmuted his hands into wooden mallet-like fists and used his arms to become a woven net of vines to catch a car.
Girlfriend – Legacy – Super Strength, Invincibility, Flight. She is the first girl in the Legacy line dating back to the Golden Age.
Fought a villain named Ogre, who was robbing a bank. Some collateral damage to the front of the bank, some cars, and the front of the building across the street (via one Legacy punch). Further pummeling provided by Transformed. Bad-guy held by tightly binding , and strong, vines till A.E.G.I.S. arrived to take Ogre into custody.
A.E.G.I.S. in interested in this duo of heroes.

My game is set in an alternate universe version of Saint Louis (my home) where a hero named Steel Crania (African-American woman, kind-hearted Iron Man expy) took an undeveloped part of north StL and turned it into a vibrant technological and cultural center.

First game with a new group tonight. Can you please share good ideas to mix with whatever they’ll bring to the table, including a villain or two?
I’d love to see a “Deck of Heroes” (Like the Deck of Villainy).

Is anyone else in this group going to be playing or GMing Masks at Gen Con?

For my wife’s birthday, I commissioned a tumblr fan artist to illustrate her character from our Masks campaign—Sonia, the Bull turned Soldier. The notes I gave on the draft were to make the character a touch bulkier and strengthen her chin. Here’s the final version. My wife interprets it as a possible future version of Sonia from a few years from now, when she’s grown into leadership in her organization.

It seems to me as a good fit for Masks. Does anyone have already considered it?
What are you thoughts about connecting or even overlapping the NPCs from the PCs’ backstory questions?

It could be interesting to have a Legacy or Protégé who want to uphold an NPC’s tradition while also having a descendant of that NPC who does their own thing but still has the NPC involved in their backstory.
Do you think that might overshadow the other PCs a bit?
