I just finished Penny Dreadful, and it seems like US
would be the perfect system for something similar. The faction interests would just have to aim at something bigger than local city politics.
(Monster hearts crossed my mind, too, but the archetype behaviors and character dynamics would be all wrong).

The Aware is a first generation immigrant, and we just learned that his babushka was a sort of witch/shaman back in her village. They found some artifacts in a box after she died. One of these was a fist sized black cube, wrapped in cloth.
So a player throws some psychometry at it, looking for the items secrets. My mind wasn’t sure what this thing was, so I show him a vivid but utterly silent impression of an old shaman chanting and holding the cube aloft as it rips a pale mist from a group of five men, absorbing it while they drop dead to the ground.
So I’m assuming there’s a chant or ritual to use this thing, but let’s say they figure that out…. What sort of move should this device have?

I’ve played several Powered By The Apocalypse games, and the setting of modern city with some fantasy and supernatural aspects has really caught my interest. I’m hoping to find a group or players open to a complete newbie to this game that would be willing or able to try a weekly game on Friday or Saturday evenings.
My current availability is between 4:00PM EST until 11:00PM EST, though I highly doubt a 7 hour session would be viable, any block of time in that timeframe would work perfectly. I’ve got a Discord and a Skype, willing to use either, and , For what it’s worth, the Wolf playbook has caught my interest the most

I was thinking to organize it as apocalypse world one shot, by defining a half backed dynamic situation and filling it with specific archetypes.
Does anyone has advice about some interesting situation, or about how to play an urban shadows one shot?
