Our Specter character has been making inroads to the fictional position that ghosts can “eat” other ghosts and gain some of their power. Here’s my first workup for that move:

Ectophage: When you Unleash on a Spirit: add a 3rd option to the 10+ list: Consume a spirit’s essence. Resolve the Unleash as normal, then if the spirit is still “alive”:

When you consume a spirit’s essence, roll +Spirit.

On a 10+, mark corruption and choose 2, or choose 1.

On a 7-9, mark corruption and choose 1:

*Learn a secret memory

*Heal 2-Harm

*Temporarily gain some of the spirit’s knowledge or expertise.

On a miss, mark corruption, choose 1, and take -1 Forward until you next manifest.

I’m not suuuper in love with my three options. The player said one of the things this could do is give you skills the spirit has from their past life. I like that, and I added “memories” to it but I’m not quite sure there’s enough of a difference there. Likewise, healing Harm is nice, but less nice for a Specter, which, mostly, doesn’t actually have to worry about it too much. Any suggestions?

I’ve been trying figure out a update to The Angel’s “Messenger” move.

I’ve been trying figure out a update to The Angel’s “Messenger” move.

I’ve been trying figure out a update to The Angel’s “Messenger” move. Since the move changed from “Metatron” to “Joan of Arc” in theme and outcome, I decided to split it into two separate moves:

Prophecy: When times are dire and you turn to your LORD for guidance, roll +Spirit.

On a 10+ your LORD offers you clear and concise guidance for your current situation. Take +1 Ongoing in carrying out his will. Additionally, you may mark corruption to ask a followup question.

On a 7-9, the answer is mired in symbolism and sacrifice, but surely must apply to the current situation somehow. Take +1 Forward. Additionally, you may mark corruption to ask a followup question.

On a miss, your LORD has turned his back to you. Take -1 to Spirit until you find a way to appease him.

Judgement: When you can tolerate the sin of mortals no more, roll +Blood.

On a 10+ pick 3.

On a 7-9 pick 2.

*Heal 2-Harm

*Gain +Holy to all attacks or the scene.

*Gain +1 Armor for the scene.

*Take no pleasure in it, thus avoiding a mark of corruption.

On a miss, pick 1, but it cannot be “Take no pleasure in it.”

They probably still need a bit of work, but it feels like a good starting point.

When you imbue a location with wards, roll +spirit.

When you imbue a location with wards, roll +spirit.

When you imbue a location with wards, roll +spirit.

On a 10+, your wards are locked tight, it is always safe from magical incursion there until the spell ends.

on a 7-9, your wards are great, but have one key weakness, the MC will tell you what.

On a miss, the wards have an obvious flaw that went completely unnoticed, the MC will tell you what.

I have a couple questions about the Vamp’s web.

I have a couple questions about the Vamp’s web.

I have a couple questions about the Vamp’s web. My initial reading of it is that if a character owes the Vamp a debt, that character is in the Vamp’s web, period.

But then I looked at the wording, and it’s “When someone comes to you to ask for a favor, look for advice/info, or threaten your interests” they enter your web. This brings up two questions:

1) Say the Vamp is breaking in to the police department, and without character X’s knowlege, destroys evidence that would have surely landed X in jail.

The Vamp then informs X, and says “you owe me” and get’s a Debt. Is X in the Vamp’s web?

2) How does the threaten part work? If the leader of a Werewolf gang walks up to The Vamp at a night club and says “I’m taking over your territory, and there ain’t nothin’ you can do about it!” how does that narratively translate to owing The Vamp a favor? How do I express that in the fiction?

On the Fae Archetype sheet and on p.

On the Fae Archetype sheet and on p.

On the Fae Archetype sheet and on p. 137 character description, the Advance* says “Join or lead a faerie court” but on P. 167 under Group Advancements it says “Gain a faerie court.”

I’m assuming P. 167 is correct, because the default assumption is the Fae is already in the court of their Monarch, correct? So the advancement is to gain a kind of sub-court, and the fealty to the Monarch is unaffected.

*Is there a term for the “After 5 Advances” advances? Advanced Advances?
