I particularly like boogeyman-ish monsters.  It hits a kind of nostalgic fear that you think you’ve outgrown. Like Slenderman or The Gentlemen (Hush) from Buffy.

I’ve just posted a breakdown of sales figures so far, for any of you who are interested in that sort of thing.

Hey, Michael Sands, one of my friends asked me what to do when he’s doing his duty as a Keeper and one of the players asks him a question that is not on the list of the investigate a mystery move. Any hints?

I’m so glad this game has a community now!  I’m running my 4th session this afternoon and I’m excited.  I love my hunters and their stories!  Our first session was the haunted house scenario example from the book, our second session used Slenderman, and the third session was our holiday Easter themed episode (I wanted something kind of light so I could introduce some metaplot elements into the game).  It’s been a really enjoyable experience so far.  I dig the formula.

Well, watching the recent movie Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters, I was thinking it would be a lot of fun to run a one-shot (or more?) in a setting just like that: it was almost “clockwork punk” in a fictitious version of 1700s Germany. Anyhow, I was just wondering how I would match the existing character playbooks from MotW to the group of main characters from Hansel & Gretel: e.g. Hansel – The Wronged, Gretel – The Expert, Mina – The Spooky, Edward – The Monstrous, Ben (the young admirer-turned-sidekick) – The Mundane. I think it should work out something like this.

I’ve just finished Fringe, and I’m really curious about how to use Monster of the Week to run games like that – where the threat in an episode is often a mad scientist releasing some sort of weaponised terror.

How would you run a game like that?

Hullo folks, I’m Rob.

Hullo folks, I’m Rob. I’ve run two one-shots of this so far (one involving the Mothman, another involving a man-eating Moon Tree) and an IRC campaign that didn’t quite work out. All the same, I love the book, and hope to run it again in the near future. Maybe as a RL campaign this time. 😀
